Aside from being a great actress, she was known for being a very personable and friendly. Marilyn Monroe,
who worked with Stanwyck in the 1952 film Clash by Night (1952), said that
Stanwyck was the only member of Hollywood's older generation who was kind to her.
Frank Capra once said the Stanwyck was "destined to be beloved by all directors, actors,
crews and extras. In a Hollywood popularity contest she would win first prize hands
down."
She always made sure she knew the names of the backstage crew member's spouses and children, and asked after them
by name.
Although she ended her career in television, she had a remarkable 37- year Hollywood movie career starring in such
great movies as Double Indemnity (1944), Stella Dallas (1937), Sorry, Wrong
Number (1948), Meet John Doe (1941) and the holiday favorite 1945's Christmas in
Connecticut to name a few.
